EMPLOYEE & FAMILY ASSISTANCE COUNSELLING

Julie has counselled employees & their families from hundreds of companies across Canada helping them on their path to mental & physical wellness. Sought after by clients,  Julie has given them the tools to reduce stress & improve relationships at work & home by finding healthier ways to cope. By seeking help early, clients have shown reduced mental, physical & emotional problems.

PSYCHIATRY

Collaborating within a multi-disciplinary team, Julie obtained a depth of clinical experience working in Psychiatry with the University Health Network, Toronto General Hospital. She assessed & treated patients with moderate to complex mental health disorders. She provided counselling, facilitated psychiatric groups and offered support groups to families.

GRIEF & CRISIS WORK

In her desire to help families in crisis, Julie worked in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Women’s College Hospital in Toronto, where she assisted couples who were faced with grief and loss of a child.

ADDICTIONS & MENTAL HEALTH (CONCURRENT DISORDERS)

While at the renowned Center for Addiction & Mental Health (CAMH) in Toronto, Julie worked in Concurrent Disorders where she provided individual therapy & case management to clients dually diagnosed with psychiatric disorders & addictions. There she also co-facilitated trauma groups for survivors of sexual abuse as well as psychiatric support groups. She also has a wealth of experience working within in-patient treatment centres for addictions primary of which was her work at the Newport Centre at the Port Colborne Hospital.

EATING DISORDERS

Julie has provided individual and group counselling for women with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating and compulsive overeating. She also developed her own Compulsive Eating Group Therapy Program.

CHILD PROTECTION

As the Acting Director for Development & Public Relations for Family and Children's Services Niagara and as Communications Manager at the Peel Children's Aid Society, Julie worked with the media advocating for the protection and safety of children.
